Radiohead - Burn the Witch

RADIOHEAD - Burn The Witch

Radiohead are an English rock band from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, formed in 1985. The band consists of Thom Yorke(lead vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, other instruments), Ed O'Brien(guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass), and Phil Selway (drums, percussion, backing vocals). They have worked with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood since 1994.
Radiohead have been together for 32 years, and have been recently annouced as one of the nominees for the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame shortlist.
Radiohead's music falls under the alternative / indie genre, however, not all their music is restricted into this genre. And due to the wide-spread popularity they have gained over the years, they could possibly be labelled as 'mainstream' music.
When represented, it is usually lead singer and songwriter Thom Yorke who is the face of the band. In their music videos, it is usually Thom starring in it, this is probably due to him writing the lyrics to the song and so he knows what visuals he wants to be seen by the audience. When it comes to magazine covers though it is usually the whole band together.

It includes several songs written some years earlier; "True Love Waits" dates to at least 1995, "Burn the Witch" to 2000 and "Present Tense" to 2008.

Burn The Witch

Released on 3 May 2016 as the lead single from their ninth studio album A Moon Shaped Pool (2016). Radiohead developed the song for over a decade, first working on it during the sessions for their fourth album, Kid A (2000). It features a string section playing col legno battuto, producing a percussive sound, arranged by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood.

"Burn the Witch" was accompanied by a stop-motion animated music video that pays homage to the 1960s British children's television programme Camberwick Green and the 1973 British horror film The Wicker Man. Some critics interpreted the lyrics and video as a warning against groupthink and authoritarianism. The song received positive reviews and was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

The Wicker Man (1973)

Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) arrives on the small Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the report of a missing child. A conservative Christian, the policeman observes the residents' frivolous sexual displays and strange pagan rituals, particularly the temptations of Willow (Britt Ekland), daughter of the island magistrate, Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee). The more Sergeant Howie learns about the islanders' strange practices, the closer he gets to tracking down the missing child.

HOW MINECRAFT IS MARKETED DIFFERENTLY - ESSAY

When Minecraft was officially released, marketing was solely based on word of mouth. Due to its never-ending possibilities it became pretty popular. With the help of YouTube, Minecraft has become one of the most popular games as it allowed users to show other fans their creations and how they have used the game. This is also free publicity for Mojang who created Minecraft. Within the game, Mojang have teamed up with other games such as Fallout and Skyrim Elder Scrolls for in game features such as themed worlds and skins. The consumption of Minecraft is large and varied compared to other games. As a user you can play the game first hand, or there are multiple ways to watch and interact through things like Youtube. Youtube allows users to generate their own creative content for other people to view and interact with.  Different versions of the game were released in order to allow people to get what they want out of the game. Narratives in the game include 'story modes', '

Pitch, Statement of Intent and Mockups

Pitch My aim for my billboard posters in relation to Fairtrade is to try and show the equality within the brand through the posters themselves. I will try and do this by using an outdoor setting, because it has that correlation to nature and represents that natural environment. I believe this will help give a clearer idea to the reader about the link to Fairtrade. This isn't clearly shown in my mock-ups as they are just sample images. The only reason I used these images was to show the similar style of clothing and poses. The two mock-ups have slight differences in layout and fonts and when it comes to the final poster I will decide on the most appropriate style. However, whatever it ends up looking like it will have a clean and simple approach, as I believe it suits the ethos of the company.  Statement of Intent  - For my adverts I intend to have the model as the main focus along with the brand name and slogan, which both have correlations to Fairtrade. With the picture I want

American Beauty - Scene Analysis

Representation  Lester is represented as a submissive and pathetic person, this is shown through his hunched over posture and the way he always obeys to whatever his wife tells him to do. This is the complete opposite to his wife who is a very loud and tumultuous person. She is seen as the master at the table whereas it would usually be the father of the family. However, she has to be quite caring as she took a lot of time preparing a big meal for her family. Then there is Jane, who seems to be the most collected out of all the family, even though she is stereotypical confused and delusional teenager. Mise En Scene The mise en scene in this scene from American Beauty is used to express the personalities of the family. For instance, Lester is wearing very bland clothes, much like the interior of the house, which shows that his life is boring and repetitive. It could also show that he blends in with the house as if he is not there, which would make sense as he stated at the st
