Minecraft Essay

Minecraft was first created in 2011 by Mojang Studios. It is a sandbox game, meaning the player is free to do whatever they desire. This allows players to use the game however they want. With the lack of objectives in the game, players are forced to use their creativity to play the game and this is partly the reason why Minecraft became so popular. Mojang relied on user feedback through community forums to help improve their game for future updates. Originally, there was no advertising for the game, people only found out through word of mouth. Minecraft would slowly gain a small fan base. The rise of Youtube helped Minecraft soar in popularity, because of the user generated content uploaded to the site. This allowed for players to show off their creativity and how they played the game. This lead to game series, called let's plays, which

HOW MINECRAFT IS MARKETED DIFFERENTLY - ESSAY

When Minecraft was officially released, marketing was solely based on word of mouth. Due to its never-ending possibilities it became pretty popular. With the help of YouTube, Minecraft has become one of the most popular games as it allowed users to show other fans their creations and how they have used the game. This is also free publicity for Mojang who created Minecraft. Within the game, Mojang have teamed up with other games such as Fallout and Skyrim Elder Scrolls for in game features such as themed worlds and skins. The consumption of Minecraft is large and varied compared to other games. As a user you can play the game first hand, or there are multiple ways to watch and interact through things like Youtube. Youtube allows users to generate their own creative content for other people to view and interact with.  Different versions of the game were released in order to allow people to get what they want out of the game. Narratives in the game include 'story modes', '
What is Jenkins's theory that the author is referring to here? How might it apply to how audiences interact with the Minecraft game? - The Jenkins theory is about how the audience and customers can participate in the creation of new products and the product gaining popularity. Minecraft players actively play the game and help it to circulate amongst friends, social media, etc. How is Minecraft different to conventional computer games in terms of narrative and what kind of experience this offers gamers? - Minecraft is about building and crafting new things and therefore the players become a producer of the game and well as consuming the content. How did YouTube respond to this trend? Have a look at what YouTube offers to gamers by going to the site. Watch a PewDiePie and Ali A video as part of your research. - YouTubers such as PewDiePie have circulated Minecraft by creating videos of them playing the game and posting it online. In 2015 YouTube created a website with gamin
Story-boarding: Introduction: The introduction to my music video will be set on the beach in the evening. The first shot is a birds eye view of the sea crashing on to the beach with words like the artists and the song title. It will turn in to a series of shots of exoctic places and activities in different locations , to go with the 'live in the moment' type story. During the song, there are parts where the voice is the main focus. This is where I plan to have extreme close ups of lips miming the lyrics of the song. This will not only show a variation in shot selection, but will also make a connection between the video and the song. The storyboard sketches are just some ideas that I have in mind, but might not make it to the video. All the shots in the photo are inspired by other dance music videos that have a similar atmosphere that I want to partially replicate.

Statement of Intent

Website The website will be subject to change as I will want it to compliment the music video. For instance, if there is a particular shot which looks good in the video, I would use it for the background of the website. However, I want the website to have bold fonts and bright accent colours, or white depending on the background image. I want to have an image of the DJ but not have them feature them in the video, which happens in many cases. This will hide their identity more and keep the focus of the video on the visuals and narrative, rather than the creator of the music.  For the logo, it will mostly likely be a modern, bold font of the artist's name, similar to that of Avicii or Tiesto. Depending on the background it will most likely be white or black, to keep the simplicity I want in the website.  Video  The video will most likely be set at the beach and feature many people with bright summer style clothes that stand out, to compliment the song. I want the video to ha

Conventions of Dance Music Videos

Example - 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' This music video has the stereo typical 'live for the moment' story, with the character starting the day doing an everyday routine and ending with a party scene. The character shows his increasing emotion during the video.  The whole video is in black and white and so gives a more vintage atmosphere to the video and perhaps shows more emotion. This is not seen all that often in modern 'dance' music videos.  Jack U (Skrillex & Diplo) - To U ft AlunaGeorge The music video for To U is quite random and disjointed, however has this reoccuring theme of couples and getting back together. The video features different ethnicities and scenery to perhaps suggest that this topic can be applied to everyone. The video in general is bright and some of it is filmed in the summer time with summer clothes, however this is not always the case. Disclosure - White Noise ft AlunaGeorge This music video has much more

Conventions of Dance Music (Websites)

Rudimental Rudimental's website features there newest single 'These Days', advertised in the bottom left corner of the website. The cover for the single has also been used for the background. The image itself shows the typical summer time and bright clothes theme which regularly occurs in dance music. The last thing seen in the home page is a link to there music video of the featured single. Major Lazer Major Lazer's website is very simple but still features bright colours and again has a link to the music video on youtube. The tab at the top of the website has links to social media and places where you can listen to the music, along with links to other parts of the website. Example Example's background is a moving image of the design used on the single cover. The cover itself is very bright with it's neon colours. There is also a box which links you to places which you can listen to the new single.

Representation: Using stereotypes to create meaning for audiences.

Find a selection of newspaper front pages that depict her and decide how she is being represented using stereotypes relating to masculine and feminine stereotypes. Outline these on your blog with some explanation. Can you use any of the ideas and academic arguments in your analysis?

To start with they use the word 'migrant', a word generally frowned upon because of it's incorrect use. The actual meaning of a migrant is someone that is moving country with the intent to seek better living conditions. Newspapers like the Daily Mail overuse this word and so the word

Revision: Newspapers and Political Bias

The Mail mainly has a conservative based political stance. This can be seen through the over the top language used like 'backlash' and 'blitz'. This is also emphasized with the bright red explosive picture. The phrase 'mission accomplished' is positive and shows that something good has been done. The Independent is an objective magazine and therefore has no particular political stance. This is shown through the headline which is just clearly stating facts. They also have not used any visual images relating to the main storyline, as it could suggest a different viewpoint on that story. The newspaper features other plugs to other stories unlike The Mail whose main focus is the Syrian bombing story.

Dance Music Research

1. What makes all of these music videos from the dance music genre? All of these music videos are set in the summer where it looks hot, usually in the streets. All the people in the video also wear summer clothes, such as shorts and tshirts. The videos all feature bright colours, either through their clothes, buildings or extra props which exaggerates the summer vibe they are going for. In all the videos people are dancing or doing summer related activities in time with the music. Usually something unnatural happens which you would not find going on in everyday life. 2. Explore how the artists are using representation to appeal to their target audience in these three videos by picking out key frames from the video to analyse. All of these shots have bright colours and feature people dancing. The colours chosen are bright summer colours (pink, blue and purple). This is shown through multiple ways, either it's the clothes, buildings or special effects like in the 'COLA

Finished H and M Advert Remake and Evaluation

Wear brown shoes after six: I think that the camera angles for the first scene were fairly accurate. The first one could have been taken from a slightly lower angle and the third maybe slightly further away. I managed to create a focus pull in the second shot which matched the original so this was successful. The location was not very accurate as there wasn't enough lighting on the street to be able to see the subject of the scene. However it was still taken outside. This scene was edited well as we managed to get the timings to fit well with the non diegetic soundtrack and voiceover. The mise en scene was accurate as the subject was wearing a suit and holding a clear umbrella. However the colour of the suit doesn't exactly match the original. The lighting also isn't great and is a lot darker then the original. This is probably because I just used the lighting that was there instead of creating my own lighting set up.
